My Frog

Excitement in Johns Creek.
Georgia was, past tense, in a drought for the last couple years. One of the things I did to conserve water was and is collect the condensation from the air-conditioning unit on the side of the house. At first I was surprised to see that I could retrieve between 4 & 5 gallons from dusk to predawn and 3-4 gallons during the day. Hard to believe that almost 10 gallons over a 24 hour period but, true that.
Last summer I had a visitor in the collection bucket. A little blue frog. I was careful not to squish the little critter. So, every morning and afternoon I would carefully dump the water on various shrubs and share it with the big tree. The frog was happy-happy and remained in the container for quite a while. At some point in time, I’m not sure when, my little frog buddy was nowhere to be seen. Naturally, as fall turned to winter the air conditioning unit went into hibernation, which is something frogs do as well.
Evidentially it is difficult to track a frog for the purpose of determining a lifespan. With that in mind consider the following just a personal experience.
Early this June as I was empting the collection bucket, low and behold there’s my little bitty buddy frog. Naturally I picked up where I left off last year. So as not to harm the little guy I carefully transition the water on to its new destination. Oopps, Monday morning I the frog went unnoticed and I dumped him (I haven’t checked to determine gender) into the flower bed surrounding the mail-box.
Surprise, when I went to empty the bucket this morning the little guy was back in the pail. Why should this reflection of “nature” be so fascinating to me? I don’t know. It just is.
